Paint does not hide the surface.

It reveals it.

Large windows, linear lighting, deep colours and refined interiors expose every change in texture and plane. A Level 5 finish adds a continuous skim coat over the entire drywall surface—not only the joints and fasteners.

The result is a more uniform substrate for primer and paint, designed to perform in demanding visual conditions.

Level 4Standard finish
Compound is applied to joints, corners and fasteners.
Standard lighting and less visually demanding finishes.
Level 5Full-surface finish
A continuous skim coat is applied across the complete surface.
Raking light, large windows, smooth ceilings, deep colours and refined interiors.

Technical note Level 5 improves surface uniformity. Substrate correction and plane alignment are assessed separately where framing or existing surfaces require them.

Beyond residential

Walls made for the final design.

Galleries, showrooms, boutiques and premium retail spaces depend on clean planes and precise transitions. We review the specified finish and prepare the surface around it.

01 / Display walls

Gallery and museum walls

Full-surface preparation for large uninterrupted walls where directional light exposes seams, texture and unevenness.

02 / Wallcoverings

Wallpaper-ready surfaces

Skim coating and substrate preparation for the specified wallcovering system, with seams, repairs and transitions addressed before installation.

03 / Integrated details

Flush and concealed elements

Finishing around recessed lighting, flush access panels, concealed doors and other built-in details so edges and reveals read cleanly.

One standard.

Different starting points.

We define the preparation system around the surface you have and the finish you expect.

01

New drywall

Full-surface finishing over correctly prepared board for custom homes, additions and design-led renovations.

02

Existing surfaces

Skim coating for tired, uneven or previously repaired surfaces that need a consistent new finish.

03

Walls + ceilings

A continuous preparation approach where transitions, reveals and reflected light need to read as one system.

Preparation is the work.

01

Project review

We assess the substrate, lighting, architectural details, finish expectations and site conditions.

02

Protection + correction

Adjacent finishes are protected. Repairs, transitions and local plane issues are addressed before the full skim.

03

Full-surface skim

The complete surface receives the specified skim-coat system, followed by controlled sanding and refinement.

04

Light check + finish

Surfaces are reviewed under directional light, primed and completed through paint as defined in the scope.

For projects where “paint-ready” needs a definition.

Level 5 is most valuable when the finish will be judged by light, line and continuity—not from the centre of the room alone.

Before we

review the project.

Not always. It is most valuable in visually demanding areas: large windows, raking light, smooth ceilings, deep colours and refined architectural details. We can assess where the upgrade is justified.

Often, yes. Existing surfaces first need to be assessed for movement, contamination, previous coatings, damage and plane variation. The preparation system depends on what is already there.

No. A Level 5 finish improves texture uniformity across the surface. Significant plane correction, framing issues or substrate movement require separate assessment and scope.

Yes. Projects can be carried through primer and final paint so the preparation and visible finish are managed as one system. The exact scope is confirmed during project review.

Project location, approximate wall or ceiling area, current substrate, desired timeline, photos in natural and directional light, and drawings or finish schedules where available.
